Dominika Pullmann-Carpio, MD is an aspiring plastic surgeon–scientist at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, with a longstanding commitment to research and surgical innovation. Her scientific career began at the Medical University of South Carolina in Dr. Thomas Jhou’s neuroscience laboratory and developed further through roles that strengthened her expertise in experimental design and microsurgical techniques.
During medical school, Dr. Pullmann-Carpio led research projects that earned internal funding and contributed to studies in neurobiology. Throughout her general surgery residency, caring for patients with complex defects and medical comorbidities deepened her interest in reconstructive surgery and ultimately led her to her current research fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at NYU.
Her research now focuses on reconstructive transplantation and advancing the understanding of wound healing, with the overarching goal of improving long-term outcomes for patients.
