Yen-Zhen Lu, PhD, also known as Angel, is a Research Fellow at the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute in Australia. Her research focuses on understanding regulation of immune cell responses in injured tissues, as the immune system plays a crucial role in orchestrating tissue healing after injury. Her most recent work, published in Nature, explored how pain-sensing sensory neurons release specific neuropeptides to control immune cell activation, thereby promoting healing of mouse diabetic chronic wounds. Her research aims to develop effective immune-based therapies to treat non-healing tissues where dysfunctional immune activation and dysregulated immune responses impair tissue healing.
