Dr. Bijan Najafi is a bioengineer and digital health researcher whose work advances healthcare equity through decentralized and technology-enabled care. A Professor of Surgery and Research Director at UCLA’s Center for Advanced Surgical & Interventional Technology (CASIT), he develops telehealth platforms, wearable technologies, and data-driven care models to enhance access and personalize treatment for chronic diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and dementia.

Dr. Najafi also directs the NSF Industry–University Cooperative Research Center for Care in Place (C2SHiP), leading multi-institutional efforts that bridge innovation and implementation. Author of over 300 peer-reviewed publications and 20 patents, he was elected to the AIMBE College of Fellows in recognition of his contributions to digital health innovation and translational research.
